I really couldn’t keep a schedule even if my life depended on it, anyways, back on topic.
So what does this iPhone have to do with this grand intelligence breakdown I have been describing?
In 2007, after the release of the first real “smartphone” made for the masses, people were a bit wary, not to mention the price was much higher than the $100 or $200 feature phones we were all used to. The populace didn’t quite understand the significance and the future it would bring with it. Laptops were still very expensive, and desktops were the most common computer available. Schools were still using pencil and paper to do work. They didn’t understand that one person could hold all the power of a cheap laptop and the whole knowledge of the internet in their pocket. Once the early adopters started showing people the significance of having that convenience in their pocket, people started to buy iPhones and Android powered phones in droves.
How did this destroy our intelligence? How did this make us want a loud mouthed person bashing everything and anything in his wake, and then throwing a temper tantrum in the middle of an aisle because something is “unfair”. We have the internet and all of the knowledge that comes with it in our pockets, where did it go wrong?
A little unknown fact about search engines, is that now a days they cater toward your search results on previous searches. So, for example, if you look up conspiracies or click on links related to conspiracies, all of your searches will go toward relevant conspiracies. So, let’s say that you wanted to research Donald Trump, and previously you have researched 9/11 conspiracies, Federal Treasury conspiracies, and aliens invading, you may well get a very supportive anti establishment, anti government, possibly a Ku Klux Klan inspired article supporting Mr. Trump.
You see, anyone can post anything on the internet and because people have a shorter attention span for the reasons I have mentioned in the first part of this article, and for the fact we have notifications and texts coming at us constantly at all times with all the latest news, therefore they don’t have the time or patience to research or fact check to make sure what they’re reading is true. I’m not saying you’re stupid for believing these articles that make ridiculous claims, I’m just saying the United States has a large case of ADD.
So, to come to a conclusion. I am a disgruntled American for this reason. The government no longer represents us, because we can’t even do our due diligence to read and research to choose the representatives that will truly represent us. I alone cannot make this decision, as it is a decision for the will of the people, but unfortunately the will of the people no longer reflects an intelligent, thought provoking, logical society. It represents a society that can no longer care for itself, and therefore this society votes for anybody that can yell and scream and insult their way into making changes, without actually looking for how it is going to change the way this country, this society functions. The people I meet and talk to, they no longer want to use common sense in their election of a public official, they vote for a cult of personality and try to defend that in the kind of mindless followership that is only commanded by a dictator or king. This is why I am a disgruntled American, the country that was founded by free thinkers, rebels, and revolutionaries, is no longer. The society that exists now is one filled with welfare recipients, sloths and mindless drones.
